In The Air...

The world's aviation sector continues to grow at a phenomenal rate. History has shown that since the first powered flight in 1903, every 20 years the number of passengers flown doubles. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has projected that passenger numbers are expected to reach 7 billion by 2034. That's twice as many as the 3.5 billion passengers flown in 2015.

There are currently towards 12000 commercial aircraft on order. That means there is about eight to ten years worth of work ahead manufacturing and delivering them.

The island's engineering and manufacturing sector has connections with most of these aircraft and also some military aircraft not included in the above number; and so has lots of work secured ahead and plenty of opportunities to secure new work in the future.
