Frequently asked questions with answers.

  1. Q: How do I find out more about the islands' engineering and manufacturing sector?

A: Contact the Engineering and Manufacturing Sector Skills Champion (use link here).

  2. Q: I would like my children to go to university as I think that's the best route to a good job. Is that the case with engineering?

A: Not necessarily. University is very academic so people who choose this route need to be prepared and equipped for that way of learning. Equally, not all roles inside engineering companies need degree students. Many roles are more practically based with some academic so HND, HNC, BTech, NVQ qualifications say via the University College Isle of Man are an ideal way to develop the skills needed for such roles. 3. Q: How do I undertake some work experience to see if engineering is the career I would like to pursue?

A: If you're in secondary school Year 10, then this will form part of your curriculum for the year and is organised via employed.im (use the link here).
