General Manufacturing sub sector
This sub sector is very diverse and principally involves companies that offer high quality products and services but perhaps not at the extreme ends of the spectrum in terms of exotic materials, tight tolerances, extreme applications or complexity (relative to the Precision Engineering sub sector). These products and services are just as important to us as consumers.
Examples in this sub sector include companies involved with:
- bio-medical and medical devices,
- cosmetics and soaps,
- grooming accessories,
- homeopathic remedies,
- DVD production,
- kitchens, bathrooms and accessories for people with assisted living needs,
- concrete and aggregates, and
Companies employ highly skilled personnel who also need high levels of education and training including craftsmen, apprentices, technicians and graduates.
"Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler."
Albert Einstein (German theoretical physicist who developed the general theory of relativity, one of the two pillars of modern physics, alongside quantum mechanics.)
