STEM Fest is an exciting event coming to the Isle of Man! It's all about Science Technology, Engineering & Maths!

What is STEM Fest?

STEM Fest is an interactive and educational event designed to engage students in STEM Subjects and local industries. We want to showcase the work of local companies and inform the audience about the wide variety of career paths that are available in Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths on the Isle of Man!

Here are some examples of similar events held across the UK which we are looking to host an IOM version of:

The Big Bang Fair

Bring it On

When is STEM Fest?

STEM Fest will be held at the Villa Marina on 1st & 2nd October 2019.

The event will be attended by over 600 primary school students from 8.45am to 3pm each day.

Organisations attending the event will need to have their teams in attendance from 8am each, finishing at 3.30pm (approx). Set up of exhibitions and activities can be done on the afternoon of Monday 30th September.

What will students be doing?

We don't want to spoil the surprise, but here's a quick overview!

Local & visiting organisations have put together a large range of activities designed to engage students in the STEM industry. We want to showcase our local companies work and to inform the audience about wide variety of career paths that are available in Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths!

There will be many things for students to do, and they have all been linked with the curriculum to support the STEM education that students will receive in school. Some of the activities:

  • Live science demonstrations
  • IT coding and other challenges
  • VR Headsets
  • Constructing a bridge
  • Hands-on engineering demonstrations including a giant angry bird flinging device and laser beam activities!

This is just a small hint of what's to come at STEM Fest!

Volunteer at STEM Fest!

We are looking for individuals with an interest in STEM topics to volunteer at STEM Fest and help us make it an amazing event. Volunteers will be required to do a whole range of task including guiding groups around the event, helping with set up of activities, helping to keep the event on schedule and much more.

If you are a confident individual who can speak to groups of students comfortably, and would like to get involved in STEM Fest then please contact Carrie Yates, [email protected] or call 01624 664000.

We're also looking for talented photographers to come and take pictures at the event! If you have a keen eye and a camera, we'd be glad to speak to you!
