Design & Technology Awards 2018

The annual Design & Technology Awards took place at Ronaldsway Isle of Man Airport this November, seeing an array of work accomplished by this year's students.

This year saw a wide variety of submissions, from birdhouses to boardgames to creative lighting designs. There were lots of discussions with the students by our judges, who this year were:

Congratulations to Alex Warrilow from QEII, a GCSE student who was awarded Overall Winner of the evening for his Fire Pit! 

Jake and Juan were also recognised for their creative thinking and ingenuity in their categories: 

  • Best A Level - Jake Dillon, QEII for his innovative lamp 
  • Best GCSE - Juan Kneen, CRHS for his creative board game 

Congratulations to all the winners and all the participants - it was great to see so much innovation and quality of work!

D&T 2018 submissionThe aim of the ESSG is 'to support Chamber [of Commerce] members and the sustainability of engineering and manufacturing businesses on the Isle of Man by providing the voice of industry into Government and associated bodies.' This event continues to encourage enthusiasm and inspire ingenuity among young adults during secondary education.  It's a fantastic opportunity to see the talent coming through the Island's schools and to nurture the budding engineers for a future in the industry!
